A Night with Band of Horses

July 14, 2010
By the time Band of Horses was on stage, the Blue Note was a full house. Bryan Cates opened for the band and BOH lead vocal, Ben Bridwell, joined him for the last song before BOH performed. It was a very mellow (you could SMELL it), laid back atmosphere full of chillin’ music to match. The large backdrop screen provided images of nature — reminded me of Winter’s Bone — as well as a montage of BOH tour photos. BOH covered a lot of songs from Infinite Arms (I love this CD), including my favorites: Evening Kitchen and No One’s Gonna Love You. Thank you Matt and Ryan for the good company and evening.

Ben Bridwell and Tyler Ramsey singing Evening Kitchen. Awesome.

It was hot and humid… by 1 a.m. Ryan and I caught up with one Horse, bass guitarist, Bill Reynolds. Bill was very nice and gregarious. I asked him why BOH didn't play their current song, Life on Earth. He said they recorded it in studio but have never played it live … and he would suggest it to his band. Band of Horses will be back in October.
