Born and Raised

I was listening to a recent interview with John Mayer and he was talking about coming back from his hiatus, after going down the river on his douche bag canoe. Ok, those weren’t his words and honestly, I didn’t read the Rolling Stone interview which started his road to self-exploration. But I do get where he’s coming from — that point when you reach a limit and need to take a break, just to figure it all out. Haven’t we all done that? Maybe not to the extent of becoming a hermit in Montana, but you know what I mean. And lately, I’ve been introspective and thinking it would be nice to get away and refocus.
I’ve been listening to Born and Raised, which JM claims is his most honest music to date. Certain lyrics just get to me … welcome back, Montana.

I still have dreams,
they’re not the same
They don't fly as high
as they used to …
I saw my friend,

he's in my head
And he said,

“You don't remember me,
do you?”
Then all at once

it gets hard to take
It gets hard to fake

what I won’t be
Cause one of these days

I'll be born and raised
And it’s such a waste
to grow up lonely
{John Mayer}
