Ren: Hey that’s his {tour} bus. I make a joke about wearing my lucky Buddha and feeling LUCKY so Jen and I start walking towards the bus. Just as we near, the door swings open. I kid you not.
Jen: Oh my God, that’s him!
Ren: Really? I have NO CLUE. Let’s be honest, my country music has been pretty limited to Tim McGraw and Brad Paisley. This guy is dressed in a black workout shirt and running shorts — but those eyes. DAVID NAIL. Yep. He pulls down his white cap and smiles.
Jen: Can we take a picture with you? OK, why are we nervous? We’re not in high school! His friend in the green plaid shirt takes our cameras. Hugs all around.
That was probably the easiest-not-planned-concert-stalking-meet-up, I’ve ever had. And as you know, I’ve had my share. It’s only 7:30 p.m and the show doesn’t open until 8 {translate, David’s concert doesn’t even begin until 10:30} and already, NIGHT MADE.
You know what? David Nail loves CoMo (Columbia). And Missouri loves him. When we saw him again after the show, by his bus, with our tickets and a borrowed pen from the Mexican restaurant around the corner, I told him so. I confessed it was my first country concert and he seemed pleased and grateful for all his fans. David thanked me for my TWEETS (I posted two before the show) — What? He actually SAW them. Then he was off to Shiloh (Bar). And NO, we did not follow him. :}
