Rum Factory | Appleton Estate

The three-hour drive of our tour ended at the rum factory. You are knocked out greeted by the foul stench of the odiferous site. What I learned: sugar cane > sugar > molasses > rum. The smell of rum fermentation is not pleasant — I would have gladly skipped through the tour because I could not breathe. But in the end, we were able to sample from 13 different rums, which was a relaxing way to end the day. (Favorite: Rum Cream, which is similar to Baileys)
Riding through the countryside is a visual blur of verdant plantations, goats, small wood-boxed homes, large unfinished villas, crowded small towns — all surrounded by the bluest Sea and sky (iPhone only below). More of Jamaica days here. xo Ren
