The waves and the wind and night is black
Tonight we’re the scent of your long black hair
Spread out like your breath across my back
Your hands they move like waves over me
Beneath the moon, tonight, we’re the sea
~ Iron and Wine

The first time I heard Iron and Wine it was the popular, Flightless Bird American Mouth … which introduced me to his other songs… Trapeze Singer, The Sea and the Rhythm, Georgia, Jezebel… I could go on. Listening to Samuel Beam is like an endless summer road trip with the wind blowing in your hair or taking lazy naps on a rainy day. So chill, so good.

Pre-concert nosh — Pepe’s Tacos at Rose Music Hall. Love the new sign. |
Gregory Alan Isakov opened for Iron and Wine. I was so impressed with his vocals and his friend Steve’s aggressive guitar skills, that I picked up his current CD, The Weatherman. Check it. Gregory didn’t know who Mark Ruffalo was when I said he looked like the actor, but was completely adorable about lending me his hat. :) |
What a FUN night. Thank you Ry for joining me — even though it was crazy cold inside and we had to deal with the usual obnoxious fan (there is always one). After-concert-carbing is always a must. My first trip to Broadway Diner was interesting (men in long fur and the ESPN dude) and F’n delicious — sausage gravy eggs benne/DOUGNUTS/a bite of french toast pancakes with BACON! What! Beats the Waffle House (but that’s always an option). Until the next time…
