Seeking treasure

{source}

This past weekend, we had a huge garage sale. I say huge because we cleaned out two storage units containing ten years of memories. The point wasn’t to make money but to declutter our living space. I found the whole experience interesting. As one customer put it, “The garage sale people are a different breed.” They will come out in the pouring rain, for a good find. While I can’t understand the regulars who have their routes planned out in advanced, I can see the allure of finding a coveted item for a quarter. For me, it would be a vintage, hardback cover book. We met a lot of nice, friendly folks; one (possible) grifter/absent-minded shopper; and the volunteers who hauled the remaining items to the survivors in Joplin. It was a good day. Have a wonderful Memorial Day.

Joys await...

I’ve been listening to him lately, again, {Edge of Desire is on constant replay} because his voice is like butter. And when I saw this quote ... forget that John Mayer has said a few things that make him a tool, these words hit home.

Edge of desire

A few things that inspire and make me desirous and happy. I wish for earnestly …

Frenchie and everything you need to TRAVEL
HUNGER Games, the movie. Can not wait!

I BOOKS
{VINTAGE} The Boxcar Children
Happy ELEPHANTS

I had a BELT like this once. Loved it. Want it.
Coolest DRYLINE … in my study … in my office.
 this sign.

I should not be allowed

inside Barnes and Noble. It is inevitable that I leave with books or a coveted find. Today, I could not resist 1. {summer reading} The title had me at Duran Duran. 2. Macaroons cookbook. Macaroons are the rage in Paris and I missed trying them there! Maybe with the help of chef Matt, I will finally discover why the miniature desserts are so desirable. 3. Guitar chords book. I didn’t know there were so many. I know the basic eight. I have so much to learn! 4. Summer beach tote — perfect for hauling all my books. I love the colors. This was half a Saturday well spent. Hope you are having a wonderful weekend! {Ren Reiske © All Rights Reserved}

Gregory. Because he’s Atticus.
Paul. Because he’s cool, drinking a Heineken. {source}
Cool hand ... and everything else.
Ewan. Because he’s British. Period.
Brad. Because he’s from Missouri, he went to Mizzou, he is. Hot.
Rob. Because I’m still {Rob}sessed and it’s his 25th birthday {May 13}. My favorite nerd of all. {source and pinterest}

New Town

We ventured out during our soccer travels and discovered this quaint community, reminiscent of the French Quarters and Seaside, Florida, combined. Welcome to New Town.

Ex Libris

“When I get a little money I buy books; and if any is left I buy food and clothes.” —Desiderius Erasmus
Every weekend, I find myself avoiding and putting off my to do list: practice guitar, work out, CLEAN and redecorate my study/library. And then I saw this image. How do I covet thee? My fantasy library in the woods? Possibly. I would spend hours there. The piano is a nice touch but since I haven’t played in years, I can only fantasize about Mr. Pattinson tinkling the ivories.

I digress. This room inspires creativity and mischief … what’s that fireman’s pole doing there? Hmmm, time to clean my study! {sources: library; Vanity Fair}

Indulge

Life can get pretty busy. Sometimes you have to stop and take a moment to savor and indulge. The last couple of weeks, my allergies flared up and a skin irritation turned into a problematic eye infection. Time to slow things down {antibiotics helped}. When I found a brief reprieve, I indulged. Ate a wonderful meal with my mate at my favorite pub. Played in the sunshine with our energetic pup. Perused through books at Barnes and Noble for perfect summer reading {found a few}. Took long walks in the evening, remembering how bright stars shine on cloudless nights. Savored and indulged.
Worcestershire Steak at 44 Stone Public House. Flat Iron Steak marinated with homemade Worcestershire, Jameson Steak Sauce, buttermilk mashed blue cheese potatoes and onion crisps. Washed down with beer from Ste. Genevieve. Divine.
Dark cacoa is good for the soul. Paired with a good book, The Help, is always a good thing.
Parmesan artichoke dip and toasted pita chips from Beks. Comfort food at its best.
Naps can do wonders. A warm buddy is a bonus. {Ren Reiske © All Rights Reserved}
