Tattoo girl
Beau initiated her rite of passage to adulthood by deciding to get a tattoo. I reminded her of my own tattoo debacle and tried to convince her that the pain was worse than child labor. After discussing and debating, she was adamant so we escorted her to Living Canvas. The only redeeming aspect was her decision to keep my design of our family cross. Both Matt and I had this tattoo done by Peter a couple of years ago. The family cross — my dad gave me and my siblings a gold cross necklace which was specially-made from the Philippines. It has a sunburst in the middle with a splice of wood (from the cross of Christ) inset in gold. When I married, I gave my cross to Matt. Years later, Matt took the necklace to a jeweler who made replicas for me, Beau and Jordan. He also made a couple of extras for our children to pass on to their significant others (in the future).

Peter working on Beau’s tattoo. It was a long night, from 10 p.m. until almost midnight. Quite interesting thanks to the guys at LC and Kriss Kross singing JUMP!
Happy 18th birthday, baby!
