live to love

So my boy got his second tatt. What could I say? It’s the holiday ... it means, Live to love. Who can argue with that?

fresh ink

Before midnight, I was woken up by Jordan and Matt — both were on a mission to go to Iron Tiger Tattoo for JJ’s first tattoo. I was outnumbered by testosterone. And really, I couldn’t say no to my baby boy who wanted the same tat each one of us already had. Keeping it all in the family.
{Ren, Matt, and Beau — our family tattoo}. Jordan tatted by Lars — weren’t we just here last week?

barns, swath, bar & tattoos

Barnspotting. Suddenly I’ve become aware of the beauty and nostalgia of these barns I see almost every day on my routine drive through the countryside.
Jumping out of the car to quickly take photos before any farmers showed up, Beau thought it would be funny to take a photo of me barnstalking.

It has been weeks since I’ve had a work-free weekend — so I made the most of it. Slept in. Took a nice drive to Beau’s new apartment for next fall, then stopped at Beks for our favorite appetizer. Their artichoke dip with warm pita chips is scrumpdiddlyitious.
I’m excited to see that Beks is expanding. More room, shorter wait.

I met up with my good friend, Chris, who I haven’t seen in ages. We saw Snow White and the Huntsman, which was epically cinematic, visually beautiful and full of Charlize magnificence. It was such a nice evening for patio eats and drinking so we went up the roof bar at Quinton’s. Their spicy chicken dip {it must be dip day} and a couple libations hit the spot.
The sun was going down so I quickly walked downtown to see Beau and Kaitie bravely acquire tattoos. The deer at Iron Tiger Tattoo reminded me of SWATH :)
Last of her trifecta. What an eventful day. Good night!

After a long work day, it was nice to receive the new W magazine in the mail. Love Kate Moss and her cute anchor tattoo.

Day 2. Words

The words brought forth true meaning after a trying year, without regrets. I have no regrets. Simple. That is all.

How To Be An Artist #7

{ferris / tatt / Ren Reiske © All Rights Reserved}
Be open. One of my favorite pieces of jewelry is an “O” ring I found at Poppy. I love the bright turquoise blue and large O, which reminds be to be open. Open to change, new things, possibilities ... allowing yourself to dream  and be fearless.
I’m still dreaming of London — going back (up) on the London Eye with someone special. What are you open to? The sky’s the limit.

The Girl with the Latin Tattoo

Like a fly on the wall, I had the privilege of joining Beau and Jenna at watching Lauren get her first tattoo. The evening began at 8 p.m. at Iron Tiger Tattoo. Lauren had methodically picked her artist by previously viewing all their artwork online. Gabe had nice work but Omar was a pet's name and Lars was the name of someone she knew… :) Lars was it.
Tattoo girl and javelina, a.k.a. skunk pig.
Unfortunately, Lars was booked until 11 p.m.
Since one should never get a tattoo on an empty stomach, we made trips to El Rancho, Kaldi’s and Cold Stone Creamery to pass the time. It was 10:30 p.m. by the time we rounded back to banter with the men in black.
Did you know that babies have 300 bones? Babies HAVE bones. There’s a COAST off Minnesota by that lake. If you get a piercing on your ***, your *** may reject it and then you end up with a split ***. That one is true.
It was closer to midnight by the time the shop was cleared out and Lars was ready for Lauren. Lauren was a bit shaky but she endured it like a pro.

Je ne regrette rien

August 7, 2010
Je ne regrette rien. I regret nothing. Lately this has been drumming through my head and keeping me focused on what lies ahead. Life is not perfect and we all make mistakes, which we learn from. You can never stop learning and that's what makes life priceless.
Beau and I went to Living Canvas and marked these very words. Last of my trifecta.

Prom

With the unpredictable weather in tornado country, we felt blessed when the sun came out for prom day. Our day began with an early college registration, rushed tour, then to the Clip Joint for hairstyling, and preparation for the evening. Shelter Gardens was the hot spot for many seniors, dressed in beautiful gowns and impeccable tuxedos.
