I received Loud from J for Christmas and recently, I bought Talk That Talk. I will tell you, Rihanna owns my iPod. Guilty pleasure without the guilt.

Hair today, gone tomorrow

Lovely Sarah and Beau {© Ren Reiske}
Every now and then, someone will pay me a nice compliment about my hair. It’s a blessing I used to take for granted, until you realize that there are others who don’t have something as simple as hair. So when my daughter, Beau, and her lovely friend, Sarah, told me that they have been growing out their hair to donate to Wigs for Kids, I was full of admiration for them.

Kiss Quick

{pics /source}
Kiss Quick ... this song owns me at the moment. I spent too much time pondering whether to pre-purchase the vinyl (going old school) or wait 7 days for the CD. Impatient, I am. But take a listen and tell me Matt Nathanson doesn’t push your hot buttons.

This year, all but disappeared,
bought into fairy tales,
But sleeping beauty just
kept score and tried to sleep more
She said, “I'm not quite, myself tonight,
But the way you touch me, oh, makes me tongue tied,
That could be the wine too.”

Kiss Quick, I’ve got a line out the door
Who all think they can save me.
One by one they lay the world at my feet,
One by one they drive me crazy.

She said “I know Love,
and it’s all push and shove,
so stop talking
and put your back into it.”
Loaded, oh my hands shook to hold it
I turned her body on, I turned her body on myself.

Kiss Quick, I've got a line out the door
Who all think they can save me.
One by one they lay the world at my feet,
One by one they drive me crazy.

Shut your mouth,
Pull me out, before this all goes grey.
One by one they lay the world at my feet.
One by one they go away …

Sell my blood for money,
baby, baby.
And I love how it feels.

This year, all but disappears.

I’m having fun now

{Ren Reiske © All Rights Reserved}
There is nothing more fun than hopping in your sporty new car {in my case, a Mazda 3} and cruising the open road on a sunny, breezy afternoon. All whilst listening to the surfy, summery tunes of Jenny and Johnny. Jenny Lewis is a gem of a singer and my latest go-to-happy-music-girl.
… living your life in the gray
is the new American way
we're spending what we haven't made
and we save our money in good faith
and we work hard for our living wage
… big wave

Afterwards, what could be better than a cold brew {Konig Bavarian Wheat} and delectable dessert {Irish Creme bread pudding with vanilla ice cream laden with caramel}. I can’t say enough wonderful things about 44 Stone Public House. We’re having fun now.

Dear Husband

I’m not the cook. I’ve actually done this. Several times.
I can’t stop reading this blog. It’s Friday. Go. Read. {source}

Je ne regrette rien

August 7, 2010
Je ne regrette rien. I regret nothing. Lately this has been drumming through my head and keeping me focused on what lies ahead. Life is not perfect and we all make mistakes, which we learn from. You can never stop learning and that's what makes life priceless.
Beau and I went to Living Canvas and marked these very words. Last of my trifecta.
