Smile {you’re designed to}

My first camera was a Pentax film camera until I moved on to a Canon A-1 during college. Those were the days of b&w 400 speed film and dank, musty dark rooms. I was learning how to open a film canister in a dark closet, getting a creative high from dark room processing, taking photos methodically while carefully framing each shot (because film is expensive), and discovering a new love — photography. Oh, I also met my future husband during this time. He too was a photography enthusiast.

I never thought of myself as a photographer because I continued in commercial design and found work as a graphic designer. Many moons later, I continued my photography hobby while working with other professional photographers. But the love was always there. I truly believe that design and photography go hand in hand.

I’ve since moved on to dSLR and recently sold my Canon Rebel when I received my dream camera — a Canon 5D Mark II — for my birthday. OH. HAPPY. DAY.

The growing number of gadgets in our house is embarrassing telling of my love of photography. Some women have shoes, I have books and electronic accessories.

And while I love instagram, my iPhone 4s, and the creative inspiration I receive from both, I look forward to learning and growing with my new camera. I’m so thankful for those of you who have given me such support on my creative endeavors, and for those who remain anonymous but continue to visit me here. It’s very cool. I will be experimenting and {hopefully} posting more often. I would love to hear what you think.
