eyes wide open

I thank you God for this most amazing day, for the leaping greenly spirits of trees, and for the blue dream of sky and for everything which is natural, which is infinite, which is yes.
— e.e. cummings

I love e.e. cummings. He always had the right words. The new year started with my eyes wide open. I received a call that every parent fears … the possibility of losing a child. And then I was given a miracle, and everything was fine once again. It’s not that I needed a reminder because I know bad things happen to people every day. I remind myself daily to be thankful for each moment, to be aware of the good things, and to not let the small things weigh me down.
On a very random side note, I recently saw The Impossible. Before that, Les Mis, so it has been an emotional week. The Impossible brought home the theme of family strength and love. I would highly recommend it.
During all this, I was amazed and overwhelmed by the care and support of friends and family. For all of you, thank you!

As for the small {disingenuous} things

Let it go — the
smashed word broken
open vow or
the oath cracked length
wise — let it go
it was sworn to
go

let them go — the
truthful liars and
the false fair friends
and the boths and
neithers — you must let them go
they were born
to go…
— e.e. cummings
