CHINA on Insta @2Rtist

Every day is a journey, and the journey itself is home.
– Matsuo Basho

Three weeks in China — I posted daily on Instagram @2Rtist. Here are a few of my favorites…
Lovely night in Shanghai | May 29, 2014, Unico

May 20, 2014 | Beijing International Hotel, our home for the first week.
May 19, 2014, GO EAST | Angelina and I on our way to China.

May 20, 2014 | Our first night, eating authentic Chinese food
Skype, the best invention ever // May 20, 2014 | During our morning walk, we encountered elderly Chinese performing Taijiquan (a traditional form of Chinese shadow boxing).
{personal Jesus}
May 21, 2014 | 798 Art Zone — Loved this district, a plethora of galleries, coffee shops and street art.
A typical breakfast at BIH — omelet, chocolate pastry, fresh Udon noodles, and hot black tea. Yum.
PANDA spotting // China has the brightest colored roses.
May 22, 2014 | Wanfujing Street Market (at night), Beijing. Can you smell it? Street food of live scorpions, seahorses, lizards, snakes and starfish.
May 23, 2014 | Bird’s Nest Stadium, Olympic Park, Beijing

May 23, 2014 | Bird’s Nest Stadium, Olympic Park, Beijing

Pedicab adventure | Matt and I actually FIT in the back of this! The back door opened just as we took off!
Martesha in Chinese silk. Work it girl! | May 24, 2014 The Forbidden City, Beijing

Bill and Sandy’s excellent adventure | This sneaky artist would draw caricatures of unsuspecting strangers for 50 yuan/plate. The Forbidden City.

Street food | What I’m NOT eating
May 29, 2014 | The Financial Center, Shanghai
Best private Latin-inspired dinner (overlooking Pearl Tower, see first photo) at Unico by Mauro Colagreco. The churros with caramel — to die for.
May 29, 2014 | The Bund at night
May 30, 2014 | Hey there … before flying out of Shanghai to Xi’an. DiorRob spotting.

XI’AN | Angry Panda
May 30, 2014 | Skytel Hotel

Bell Temple at night, Xi’an
May 31, 2014 | Terracotta Army
On the road. Loved this fountain of the Emperor and his concubine.
Favorite find and purchase (bronze tiger) from the Terracotta Army factory.
June 1, 2014 | Xi’an City Wall. Not all those who wander are lost. In this case, I WAS. The 9-mile tour turned into a 7-mile ride when I stopped one station too early, only to WALK another 2 miles in the scorching heat.
Bell Tower during the day | Xi’an, China
June 2, 2014 | SPICE, Spice baby. Delish dinner at Spice Spirit. So SO GOOD.
June 3, 2014 | Sleep Box in the Xi’an International airport. Matt stayed in one during his 15-hour layover in Hong Kong. Very cool.
Frisky boy at 798 Art Zone, Beijing

May 27, 2014 | Lake view from the top of the Summer Palace.
Right before we flew over The Great Wall. 再見 [再见] (zàijiàn) SO LONG, CHINA! It's been quite a journey.
The Mizzou China Study Abroad (business students) gang. We had a time! xo Ren
