into the woods

I went to the woods because I wished to live deliberately, to front only the essential facts of life, and see if I could not learn what it had to teach, and not, when I came to die, discover that I had not lived. — Henry David Thoreau

A glimpse at some of the natural life we saw during our hike through the woods and getaway stay in Eureka Springs.

Tufted titmouse. Yeah, Matt knew every bird that came within our view. I had no clue.

relax. reflect. renew.

It was a spontaneous, last-minute cabin/lake getaway — a great way to relax, reflect, and feel renewed for the new year.

We stayed at Beaver Lake Cottage by Eureka Springs. The owners, Neal and Carol, are super friendly and greeted us with warm, homemade chocolate cookies. Actually, there are fresh cookies every day at 3 p.m — a treat for the guests, while the deer feed nearby.

We hiked on the trail, which {steeply} goes down to the lake, almost every day.

 … beautiful sunset and sunrise

More naturey goodness here…
