The Wallflowers: Jakob Dylan

I felt someone staring and when I turned around, she was there. Creepin’. Another Jakob fan.

My no-flash photo experiment…

Lynsie and Ryan

Taking a video of (the crazy drunken dancers) The Wallflowers. Ry Murry photo. Thanks for the black all-Saints bracelet from Florida!

I attended my first Summerfest with good friends, Lynsie and Ryan. 9th Street was filling up for the free outdoor concert (featuring The Wallflowers) when we arrived during Serena Ryder’s show. It was a warm evening.
8:20 p.m. By the time Jakob Dylan and his crew hit the stage, the street was packed with warm bodies — families, college students, white trailer crazy inebriated folk, all excited to see The Wallflowers. As soon as I started taking pictures, a tall, skinny, rude jerk stagehand told us to not use the flash. What the F-lash? I wasn’t even close enough to blind Jakob! I seemed to be the only one listening as flash, from other cameras around me, continued to go off. Thank goodness I borrowed Matt’s 58mm zoom lens! I was still able to take a few decent photos of Mr. blue eyes.
One fan — the big, loud, older guy in blue, waving his hands in the air while splashing beer in the crowd, gyrating his broad hips, and screaming, “Thank you for coming to CO-LUMMM-BIAA JAAKOBB!” — entertained us upfront. His lady in white and full of liquid courage, one-upped him by flashing the band. Thank God, I missed that! After Jakob crooned 6th Avenue Heartache (in his sexy, coarse voice), we had enough of the heat and crowd and headed out for a late dinner.

A little JAKOB love…
